The app Amphion is named for the mythological Greek son of Zeus and co-builder of Thebes, who built part of the city with the power of music. The myth emphasizes the power of acoustics and of art in general, in creating a harmonious civilization.
The AMPHION app exists quite simply to make scoring music easier. One can upload a polyphonic sound file, WAV of mp3, or upload many stems of a more complex project to produce a single score.
The process produces a MIDI or music XML file, that can be edited in notation programs such as Notion and Sibelius. The goal of AMPHION is to produce this unique convenience feature, that is already proving very effective in this first version.
As a composer I was motivated to design and create it for songs and other spontaneous moments, and to fast track high volumes of repetitive or tedious work. It is the goal of this web based Sound file to Score app to improve upon what is already out there, and to continue improving.
It is already performing well with multiple parts on one sound file, such as a rock band. And for very complex projects it is better to upload the stems or parts for each instrument.
