Studio Shangri-La Lab Notes: The Trash Can Of The Future / Photocatalysis Of Plastics

It is wonderful to get started on the prototype design for my photocatalysis / photodegradation process for using light to break down plastics, to incorporate into a “the trash can of the future,” a novel approach that removes and prevents trash from circulating in the environment.

This idea I originally submitted to the MIT Solve climate adaptation challenge when it was in the rough idea phase, so it was not selected for funding at that juncture.

Now, the device is materializing from idea into reality. The first test went much better than expected, even producing some water as byproduct. Today, I followed the successful 30 minute trial, I started making design modifications.

Sometimes great results come from using what one has, alongside a strong idea. I am seeking support and funding though, as this will become necessary.

Interested in getting involved, and helping this utopian eco-tech come to fruition? Please drop me a line or donate to the GoFundMe: https://gofund.me/34ca6439

Supplies are much needed, from lighting to emissions testing equipment. The road to completing a safe and operation device will be much more efficient with support. Thanks in advance! And I look forward to posting more updates on this.
