This week’s featured artworks are from the Iconography collection and the Signal & Noise series, and they’ve been placed at a well known financial institution in Chicago and a consulting firm in San Jose.
The biblical Mary is certainly a majorly influential historical figure and religious icon, symbolic of the best, highest best human traits associated with the divine mother, with faith and purity. That’s interpreted here in the conceptual photography piece “Mary” by layering her silhouette as if a spirit floating in nature, with hyperdimensional colors of where “ascended masters” may dwell. As for the also prominent Dogwood, there is some agreement in the lore about its associations with rebirth, purity, resilience and protection.
The Iconography collection also features such figures and symbols as Jesus, Buddha, Ganesha and the Hindu/Buddhist Vajra/Dorje. All of these are very bright and colorful compositions of layered photography, designed to inspire and accentuate the best interpretations. With icons and symbols, this is partly revealing of one’s perspective. Personally, I find such godly figures as the also featured “Archangel Michael” and “Shiva” to be uplifting and motivating towards higher ideals and the pursuit of cosmic understanding.
The “Signal & Noise” series could be described as ‘sci-art,’ pop and geometric, taking the seemingly colorful chaos of noise and creating patterns, or finding different patterns within the multitude of information. The variations of the series assert that ‘noise’ is necessary and helpful for the mobility, re-arrangement, and variety of life itself. It’s also a colorful presentation, an amalgam of screens and portions of images to convey the greater statement of human design within grand design. “Alloy Reformation” expresses the possibilities that go beyond metal of course, to make infinite variations for different purposes. With metals, different qualities can be blended. And the same can be said of biological organisms.
